The Creator Voice Whispers—The Victim Voice Shouts
If you stop and listen, it is amazing how many voices you may hear inside your mind. Becoming aware of these voices is part of the mysterious experience that makes us conscious human beings.
It can also be confusing to hear so many inner voices. “Which voice do I listen to?” you may ask. “Which part is the real me?”
The answer is that all the voices are the real you. Each one has a part to play and a message to deliver. Rather than rejecting any part, realizing the role they play can help you balance your internal dialogue. Recognizing the voices through the lens of the Dreaded Drama Triangle (DDT) roles and TED* (*The Empowerment Dynamic)® can be a useful way to understand the patterns.
The DDT roles of Victim, Persecutor, and Rescuer produce internal voices when you focus on what’s wrong or what you don’t like about yourself, a situation, or other people. Your internal state evokes anxious feelings that spark drama-filled behavior. They are reactive voices and rise from an ego-centric focus that wants security, certainty, and to tamp-down uncomfortable emotions.
Human beings also have positive aspects that make up the TED* roles of Creator, Challenger, and Coach. Your Creator voice rises when you focus on what inspires you—what you care about and what you want to create. The Challenger voice invites you to muster your will to learn and grow and to tell the truth, even in the face of difficult situations. Your Coach voice is deeply curious and able to listen and support yourself with appropriate boundaries.
Thoughts are like radio signals that operate at different frequencies and volumes, and then your mind acts like an antenna that latches onto the channels. When in a DDT role, a radio frequency often screeches and shouts at you, using fear to get your attention and motivate you to react to the perceived threat.
The Creator voice in you is usually more of a subtle whisper. Learning to pause, slow down, and take a few breaths helps you hear the whisper and its guidance. Your TED* voices are tuned to a station of empowerment, resourcefulness and kindness toward yourself and others. They have a quality of truth and well-being, even when life is challenging. If you listen, you will hear your softer, intuitive voice waiting to guide you.
The Empowerment Dynamic roles of Creator, Challenger, and Coach emerge with clarity and strength when you trust your innate goodness. As you pause, listen and tune-in to the whisper of the Creator—you will hear its call.
The key to hearing your wiser guidance is to trust that it is always and already operating inside you, waiting for you to acknowledge its presence. The voices may begin as a whisper, then grow into a beautiful symphony, guiding you to creative outcomes you most want for your life. It is that wisdom that opens the door to truth and being an intimate companion with yourself.
Every one of us can access this inner wisdom. It doesn’t always have answers but, when you listen, you don’t need specific answers as much as a willingness to trust, surrender and know that there is a reliable path forward.
It seems that our life as human beings on earth is at a crossroads. Will we choose to live in harmony with others and all of life? With ourselves?
This week pause more often and intentionally listen to the whisper of your Creator essence. Jot down a few notes or even start a Creator’s Whispering Journal. Have fun getting to know your inner Creator, whose voice will become stronger and more vibrant as you listen.
