As we step into a new year, I quietly carry a familiar hope — a hope I know many of you share: This year, I’ll finally keep my resolutions and become the person I’m meant to be.There’s something powerful about a fresh start. A new beginning feels hopeful, and full of possibility. Yet beneath that hope often lives an assumption: that our true self is still out of reach.
For some time, I’ve written about “Living as a Creator.” Those words have felt inspiring — a clear call to shift from reactivity to choice. But recently, I noticed a subtle tension in that phrase. “Living as a Creator” can imply an identity I must strive toward and a future version of myself I’m not yet worthy of becoming.
That realization opened a gentle yet powerful distinction. I began to see how often I was approaching my Creator essence as a goal — reinforcing the belief that I’m not there yet.A shift happened when I changed my language to:I Am a Creator. Not someday.
Not once I’ve healed my past or perfected my habits.
Not when life finally feels easy.
Right now.
In this breath.
In this very moment.
I am a Creator is not an aspiration — it is the foundation of my being, and yours. We each have many inner parts. Some are wise, loving, and purpose-filled. Others are fearful, protective, and cautious. All of them belong. We are wonderfully complex beings, both human and divine, vulnerable and powerful all at the same time.
One of the most influential parts we carry is our ego. I don’t see the ego as an adversary, but as a protector. It formed around experiences when I felt small, unsafe, or unseen. It made a vow to prevent those hurts from happening again. Because of that, the ego often views life through a lens of deficiency that is contrary to my Creator essence. It might say:Something is missing.
Something might go wrong.
I must work harder to be safe and feel worthy. This inner dialogue is contrary to my true nature that knows that I am safe, worthy and love itself.
Saying, “I want to live as a Creator” was once a great start for me. But I now see how it implied I was not a Creator yet, and kept me pushing, striving, and hoping for the day I would finally be enough. This subtle belief is a universal human predicament and is rooted in Victim consciousness. I was unintentionally reinforcing the very thing I said I didn’t want.
The truth is far more generous:My goodness is not earned.
My creativity is not conditional.
It is always here, ready to be recognized and revealed.Being a Creator does not require that I silence my protective parts. It invites me to lead from a different identity, one rooted in:I am enough now, not sometime in the future. When I view life through a story of deficiency, my inner Victim creates experiences that confirm that story. But when I remember I am a Creator, even when imperfect, new realities begin to take shape as I remember my innate goodness. This is the shift at the heart of The Empowerment Dynamic (TED)*® when I live from the truth of “I Am a Creator.”
- I know the truth about who I am, whether I always act like it or remember it.• I meet challenges with curiosity and continuous learning from my wholeness rather than deficiency.• I lead myself and others from clarity and a full embracing of my identity.
This is not about becoming someone else. It is about fully being who I already am.
So, rather than striving to improve yourself this year, what if you allowed yourself to remember yourself? A new year’s resolution may now be about remembering your courage, kindness, curiosity, and purpose. To wake each day with a simple truth at the center of your heart:I Am a Creator, and I am that now.Creator is an identity. Not a destination. Not something to earn. Not someplace to get to.
As we begin 2026, let’s honor our egoic protective parts for their loyal service and gently allow the truth of our Creatorship to lead the way. Let’s live from the quiet confidence that nothing about us needs fixing to be worthy of love, contribution, and joy.
I hope you will join me in remembering — again and again — the truth of who you are.
