3 Signs Your Creator Self Is Emerging
Many of us stay in the Dreaded Drama Triangle (DDT) roles during our life more than we’d like to admit. What most of us don’t realize is that our true self—that part of us we call our Creator essence and the primary role in TED* (*The Empowerment Dynamic)® —is right beneath the surface waiting to be recognized and support us.
All too often, however, we get triggered and fall back into old habits. Once upset, uncomfortable emotions emerge, and we deploy all kinds of strategies to manage our anxiety.
However, our true self is strong and able to work with difficult emotions and situations. It is there, just under the surface of our fearful ego, waiting for us to choose a more positive way to work with life’s challenges.
If you fall into the Victim role, there is a “deficiency story” of feeling not enough, insufficient, or powerless to get what you want. When your Creator self emerges, you upgrade your deficiency story to a Creator story. This upgrade is not a small shift. Gaining confidence and resilience, you are growing and getting stronger to be the best version of yourself you can be.
Here are 3 signs that your Creator essence is emerging:
- You wake up to what you care about. Before, you mostly ignored what you cared about because it was so easy to get scared that you might not live up to expectations of yourself and others. “It’s just not worth the risk,” you may have told yourself, so you played small and ignored the yearning laying just beneath the surface of your everyday life.
When your Creator self emerges, you begin asking yourself different questions. The questions you ask are less about following what you feel others want of you. Instead, they are reflective questions that help you recognize and appreciate your unique gifts and dreams. Questions such as: “What and where do I thrive? What are my natural talents? What do I most care about in life?”
- You take responsibility for your own actions. When stuck in the DDT, blaming others or circumstances is common. You notice your Creator essence emerging when you get into action and take responsibility for your life. You ask yourself, “What is one Baby Step I can take to get closer to and clearer about what I want?” By getting into action, you begin to feel the creative flow of energy that gives you even more energy to take one more step toward what you want.
When you take responsibility for your response to life’s events, you spend less energy trying to change situations that you can’t control. Once you accept you don’t know how things are going to turn out, there’s new energy for learning and growth, rather than resisting “what is.”
- You begin to make friends with yourself and accept the mystery and complexity of the human experience. You begin to treat yourself as you would treat a good friend; with compassion and understanding. By affirming your true essence as a resourceful, creative, and whole human being, you now also see that these same qualities are in others, viewing them as the Co-Creators they are.
As your Creator essence emerges, you can focus on what you desire in life—what rocks your world and what you truly care about. When setbacks and struggles arise, as they surely will, you don’t rev up the old drama habits and dig in as often as you used to. Instead, you embrace your ability to choose your response, because you are now more confident in your orientation to life as a Creator.
Here’s to the Creator in you!
